Neue Ausgabe der ZGAP-Mitteilungen
Artenvielfalt zu erhalten, ist bekanntermaßen unser Ansporn und unsere Aufgabe. Gezielt fördern wir speziell den Erhalt hochbedrohter Arten, die leider nicht im Fokus der Öffentlichkeit stehen. Die Vielfalt der Arten, Projekte und engagierter Kooperationspartner zeigt sich auch wieder in den aktuellen ZGAP-MITTEILUNGEN: die neue Ausgabe enthält Beiträge zur aktuellen Zootier des Jahres-Kampagne für bedrohte Krokodilarten, einen passenden Beitrag zum umfassenden Erhaltungszuchtprogramm des von der Ausrottung bedrohten Philippinenkrokodils, sowie der bedrohten Artenvielfalt auf der vietnamesischen Insel Hon Khoai rund um den psychedelischen Felsengecko (ehemaliges ZGAP-Projekt) und ein erst 2018 neu beschriebenen Schönhörnchens von unseren Kollegen vom Kölner Zoo, neues aus dem Fonds für bedrohte Papageien und unserem Blaulatzara-Projekt aus Bolivien, unseren Kooperationsprojekten mit dem Vogelpark Marlow und der Wilhelma in Stuttgart, einem alarmierenden Bericht zum Westlichen Haselhuhn und nicht zuletzt eine Empfehlung für das neue Buch von Lothar Frenz sowie einen Überblick über die Erfolge und den Einsatz des ersten Kurators der Prigen Conservation Breeding Ark, Stephan Bulk. Preserving biodiversity is our motivation and our mission. As known, we specifically promote the conservation of highly threatened species that are unfortunately not in the public focus. The diversity of species, projects and cooperation partners is again reflected in the current member magazine ZGAP-Mitteilungen: the new issue contains contributions on the current Zoo Species of the Year-campaign for threatened crocodile species and a contribution on the comprehensive conservation breeding programme of the Philippine crocodile threatened with extinction. Furthermore, an article about the threatened biodiversity on the Vietnamese island of Hon Khoai around the psychedelic rock gecko (former ZGAP project) and a beautiful squirrel newly described only in 2018 by our colleagues from Cologne Zoo. Also news from our Fund for Endangered Parrots (FbP) and our Blue Macaw project from Bolivia, our cooperation projects with Vogelpark Marlow and Wilhelma in Stuttgart, an alarming report on the Western Hazel Grouse and, last but not least, a recommendation for the new book by Lothar Frenz as well as an overview of the successes and efforts of the first curator of the Prigen Conservation Breeding Ark, Stephan Bulk.
